Mobile phones aren’t just helping us by staying in touch through calls or texts. We are connected to the entire world through these gadgets. Most of us don’t go to our PCs or laptops anymore for searching over the web. We simply open the explorer on our phone. With a continuous bombardment of new applications and software, everyone is hooked to their device.

Since mobiles are such an essential commodity, everybody’s looking for reliable, fast-speed, affordable data packages to go with them. That’s where the telecommunication industry jumps in. They are upgrading their services, bringing out new and improved plans and deals to enhance the consumer experience.

We’re going to look at 5 such data carrier companies, which we think would suit most people’s requirements one way or the other. You can select the one which benefits you the most or at least have an idea of what’s available in the market. You can then decide on whether you want to keep your old plan or want to kickstart the new year with a bang by investing in a superior one that suits you perfectly.

T-Mobile

If you have a small family and want a package plan that should work for everyone then T-Mobile’s family plan/T-Mobile Magenta is the best option out there.

  • It costs $160 (for 4 lines of data) a month.
  • A huge perk is that it offers unlimited data so no worries about how many MBs are used by the end of the month. If you want HD streaming to go with it then you’ll have to pay extra.
  • Moreover, T-Mobile is offering discounts for additional lines, which makes the cost come down to $140 for a family of four.
  • LTE hotspot data with a free Netflix subscription is also added with your package if you’re getting at least 2 or more lines.

Verizon

Verizon is the best cell service with a tiered data plan. It’s called Verizon 5. Then there is their prepaid plan. They offer the most coverage throughout the U.S.

  • It costs $55 per month.
  • Offers 5 GB of data.
  • Data is carried over to the next month in case you didn’t get to use it. Additionally, they offer a safety mode. It means that you will not be able to exceed your data usage limit and therefore, there’s no surprise in your billing at the end of the month.
  • It is a great option for someone who doesn’t have to use their mobile most of the time, e.g., stay at home parents and kids who use Wi-Fi for most of their internet needs.
  • Their prepaid plan offers 15 GBs of data at $45 per month. Moreover, if you keep on with the plan then they offer amazing discounts as well.
  • The cost can come down to just $35 a month if you stay on with them for ten months.
  • The biggest advantage that Verizon’s service offers is that their LTE network is extensive so you get glitch-free operation. One downside that may occur is when the network gets congested, the data speed may get compromised.

Spectrum

While Spectrum is well known for its cable tv and internet, this telecommunication giant has recently stepped into the world of mobile phone data services. Charter Spectrum mobile offers an unlimited data plan as well as a flexible, by the Gig plan.

  • For $45 a month, that is if you qualify for Spectrum’s mobile services, you get unlimited data.
  • There is unlimited talk time with packages, texts, access to thousands of Wi-Fi hotspots, international calling and texts, and mobile hotspot.
  • There is actually no data cap so forget your worries about the speed getting throttled with high usage.
  • Their Gig plan is great for those who do not need unlimited data and just want to pay for what they use. It $14 for the first Gig with unlimited talk time and texts. After that, every Gig will cost $14. So, choose wisely if Spectrum’s services are available to you.
  • The downside is that you need to be an existing customer of Spectrum to qualify for this.

Visible

It offers affordable pricing with the good network coverage.

  • Their Visible Party Pay plan includes $25 per line with unlimited data per month.
  • You can get this plan if you’re buying it as a family. In case you don’t have one, ask your friends or co-workers to join you. Instead of the usual $40 service, the price per line is reduced to $25. The perks, although remain the same.
  • Visible wireless uses Verizon’s network so the coverage is excellent. Especially if you’re living in or traveling to rural areas, you don’t have to worry about the signals dropping.
  • Speeds may get compromised because it is a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO). The peak hours on Visible may mean cranky service.
  • It doesn’t offer 5G services at the moment though.

AT&T

They have revised their plans and are coming with better options in their packages. They offer great download and upload speeds as well.

  • They offer reliable coverage with steady data speed that is undeniable of great value for anyone.
  • They stand at the last of our list because they are pricier than their competitors. They still make the list as they are one of the biggest mobile phone service providers in the States.
  • Their price starts at $65 a month with unlimited data.
  • Moreover, if you want HD graphics on a movie, you will have to buy a more costly package at $85 per month.
  • Their family plans are better with prices going down with more lines that are added. The same goes for their prepaid plan.

Different companies offer different perks and AT&T is the same. The only edge that they have is their data speeds and widespread coverage. Though they need to cut their prices a bit to stand at the number one spot.
